The character drama filmed like a thriller the fine line between intrigue and boredom, succumbing the latter goes.

BERLIN-(Forum) directed by Jan Kruger's drama about a mother who is looking after her son more with soul looking to do an actual person with the finding. Set in Marseille and based on a story that contains some diversionary tactics, moves search after Simon at a pace to cozy up to more than an exercise in introspection be.

Interested parties should be limited on a few more Festival trips.

Simon (Trystan Putter) was only missing for a week, but his mother, Valerie (Corinna Harfouch) has already emerged in action. He travelled from Germany to Marseille, has help from Simon's former lover Jens (Nico Rogner), are entered, the more bemused by their search but, seems to go for the ride along.

It is soon obvious that Kruger much time and effort in the Unterspielen of the thriller element: Simon is actually on leave from his hospital job, which bought "expensive" sports car he is actually quite affordable and it turns out even a planned trip to Morocco, to less mysterious, as it may seem.

The drama here is everything in Valerie's head and their stubborn insistence, a less than subtle reminder that he may not be missing, but you certainly missed it is that something to her son could have happened. Is in your search of Simon's former lover has helped a similar purpose. Obviously not satisfied with the fact that her son is gay, you tried to cope with and understand his homosexuality.

Film, Kruger takes a different approach, but: with sun-filled Marseille on the day and his dangerous-looking side streets at night, he treated his excluded act as if it were a full blown thriller. This offers a nice effect but is also a burden on his actors.

Veteran actress Harfouch performs very well as the forlorn mother, without completely overboard, go, while Rogner delivers a natural, unpretentious performance as the former lovers. Their efforts are sparsely worn, although the audience of the growing awareness that the result of their search is irrelevant.

When Kruger's goal is to create a not so exciting thriller, he has successfully. But if his aims character drama, based its runtime, for which he did not.

Score professionally to mimic a more haunting genre, but also work Bernadette Paassen of the camera and Birger Clausen well in the lighter moments, while the city of Marseille is used to its full extent.
