Clearly inspired by the success of independent films such as fireproof, the grace-card is a surprisingly hard edges faith-based drama that should satisfy also his target audience, even if crossover prospects appear limited. This tale of Memphis police officer find spiritual salvation in the light of a family crisis is suffering a late Act lapse into melodrama, but it offers some potent dramatic moments on the way.

Actor comedian Michael Joiner provides powerful intensive performance as "Mack" MacDonald, still mourning over the loss of his young son many years earlier. The young was by an African-American criminal fleeing the scene of a crime, what run always a bitter racist to his father.

So he is particularly outraged if he has for a long overdue promotion in favor of SAM (Michael Higgenbottom), a black colleague officer passed of which also happens to be a preacher. If the two temporary partner, Mack's rising prejudice inevitably to the surface.

Sam is also conflict not in a position to decide whether his career in law enforcement or devote himself full time to the pulpit.

It is not that the two men form a bond, until a violent tragedy with Mack's alienated teenage son (Rob Erickson), who has anger issues occurs drugs and crime on the basis of one of his father is, which leads Mack to re-evaluate its values and to learn, to embrace the concept of forgiveness.

Director: first-time film director Dr. David Evans (moonlighting from his job as an optometrist) and by Hollywood veteran Howard A. Klausner (space Cowboys) written, the film has offered his heavy-handed moments, such as the frequent spiritual advice of Sam's grandfather (Louis Gossett Jr.). But in most cases is the dialogue of convincing and the characterizations surprisingly complex, to bring Christian values with his anger about racist attitudes of his partner in accordance with Sam's fight for his his special moves.

Although it has Mrs plays joy Moore, Mack's a largely non-professional cast and crew-, is a primary school teacher, making an impressive debut here - the film has excellent production values, especially John Paul ClarkDP is the lensing according to gritty Memphis locations.
